Suasdey,
one thing you can do in Phnom Penh is to visit the markets.
The first market we saw was the „Old market“. Andy es, it seems pretty old.
There are just umbreallas with the shops underneath. And what they sell I think
no european stomach could work with....
Except the street-food bananas!
This is a big street on the market, the small ones were so small I had to squeeze myself into....
The heads oft he animals are hangng
around, the flies are all over the meat and all the chicken and fish is klilled
on the market. I felt not too comfi to take pictures oft he people, who seemed
pretty poor and hard working at the same time. So there are no pictures. During
that time we were the only foreigners I could see at the market so weh ad lots
of attention. If you wanna feel Cambodia with all your senses ( and especially
with the sense of smelling) go there and feel free to try if your stomach can
handle the street food.
Another market next tot he old one is the „Night market“. We
missed this one, because we visited jsut during the day, so no information for
this one. But we visited the „Central market“! This one sells most of the time
jewellery and sometimes playstation’s. You can kill their prices pretty easy by
fake leaving their stall. For some bracelets they wanted to have 55$ and in the
end I paid 3-10$. It is kind of crazy.
But I can recommend this place, it is more for tourists who
want to get some souveniers. Check out the hall of kitsch!
And afterwards we had some street-food bananas and coconut cakes.... good for our stomach!
